Other nearby destinations include the picturesque old town of Staufen, the mystical Nonnenmattweiher pond in the middle of the forest, the thermal baths in Bad Krozingen, and the sunny city of Freiburg im Breisgau with its cathedral and historic old town. The Markgräflerland region and the Kaiserstuhl offer hilly landscapes with vineyards. A trip by train or car to Basel or a day trip to Alsace/France is also highly recommended.
